Last year Jon Hassell, a truely innovative musician & composer, died at age 84. I´m usually not much into trumpets as this instrument mostly doesn´t sound soothing to my ear but Jon´s music immediately cought my interest. His ability to play this instrument with such softness and airflow in combination with modern electronic effects are just mind blowing and left such an impact on me that I couldn´t resist: In the middle of another quite promising recording out of pure curiosity I added his sounds and it fit just perfectly as if it was made for each other. From there was no turning back to the original recording - my track and Jon´s trumpet sounds had become inseparable. This already happend way before he died and from way back then until today I didn´t quite know what to do with the two versions I recorded in terms of releasing. It was clear to me that in respect to Jon Hassell I didn´t want to take money for it even if half of the sounds are my own so I just waited for a moment to release it for free, hopefully supported by Jon´s creative spirit & supposedly by the day of his death one year later, June 26, 2022. Due to the shocking events in Ukraine I decided to release it today - for free and with the option to donate. Price it yourself and all the incoming money will be given to an organization to help Ukraine. War is never a solution as we all should´ve learned long time ago and this is just wrong! It is unbelievable and sad what is happening right now and we must stand together against such ruthless & crazy minded aggression!
